The common problems of plaque are usually associated by gum disease. What you need to know is what causes plaque-associated gum disease or gum infections. In some people, the reason why gum disease develops is not that clear. Dental plaque is almost develops in everyone, but only some people develop gum disease. Dental plaque contains various types of bacteria and some are associated with gum disease development. The invasion of bacteria is often resisted by the gums. Gum infections is thought to develop if your defense or resistance against bacteria is low. Poor oral hygiene, bacteria build up, smoking, poor immune system, and systemic diseases can increase the development of plaque-associated gum disease.
